Planning through the projects

It is possible to plan and assess lessons through the projects themselves. This is useful if you are reading through the project and deciding which lessons to teach or would like to track coverage with assumed attainment for lessons that you have taught.

Planning lessons

When planning lessons through the project itself:
  1. Choose whether to view the lessons by 'Stage/Subject' by clicking the relevant tab at the top of the page.
  2. Select the 'Expand all' button to see all lesson details or the button to see individual lesson details.
  3. For the lessons you are planning to teach, click on the lesson title.
  4. At the top of the screen, select 'Plan or assess this lesson' and click 'Plan this lesson'.
  5. Select your class from the list and add any notes.
  6. Add/remove the objectives as required.
  7. Click 'Create'.

Assessing unplanned lessons

When assessing the lessons through the project itself:
  1. Choose whether to view the lessons by 'Stage/Subject' by clicking the relevant tab at the top of the page.
  2. Select the 'Expand all' button to see all lesson details or the > to see individual lesson details.
  3. For the lessons you are planning to teach, click on the lesson title.
  4. At the top of the screen, select 'Plan or assess this lesson' and click 'Assess this lesson'.
  5. Select your class/learning group from the pupils list.
  6. Choose the date and time you delivered the lesson.
  7. Click ‘Save’ to assume attainment for all the children.
  8. Select ‘Cancel’ to keep working on the project or 'Edit attainments' if you would like to adjust any attainments.

Assessing planned lessons

When lessons have been planned, they can be assessed through the project:
  1. Choose whether to view the lessons by 'Stage/Subject' by clicking the relevant tab at the top of the page.
  2. Select the 'Expand all' button to see all lesson details or the > to see individual lesson details.
  3. For the lessons you are planning to assess, click on the lesson title.
  4. At the top of the screen, select   'x planned, x taught lessons'  then 'Planned for...'
  5. Select 'Taught'
  6. Amend the date and time, as required.
  7. Select your class or learning group from the pupils menu.
  8. Complete the attainments for each child, as appropriate.

When lessons have been assessed, they can be reviewed and edited through the project:


  1. Choose whether to view the lessons by 'Stage/Subject' by clicking the relevant tab at the top of the page.
  2. Select the 'Expand all' button to see all lesson details or the > to see individual lesson details.
  3. For the lessons you are planning to review, click on the lesson title.
  4. At the top of the screen, select 'x planned, x taught lessons' and then 'Taught on...'
  5. Review the assessments, using 'Show pupil names', if required.
  6. To edit the assessments, select 'Review full screen'.
  7. Complete the attainments for each child, as appropriate.
