Planning using My lessons

Planning using My lessons

Find My lessons under Plan and assess in the sidebar menu. You can plan, teach, review, create or delete lessons from here. It is useful to see all your lessons at a glance, which lessons have been assessed and which are still to be completed. All lessons appear in both My lessons and your Planner. Read more about Planning using My Planner.

Editing and assessing planned lessons

Use the filters at the top of the page to choose a week or a range of dates.

To plan/edit a planned lesson, click on the lesson title and use '+Add' button by My teaching notes.

If you click on the settings icon next to the relevant lesson you can select the relevant option from the menu:
  1. Copy - creates a copy of the lesson with the same objectives and teaching notes for you to edit and teach again.
  2. Delete - will remove the lesson from your planned lessons and your planner.

Next to the settings icon will be another button. You will either see:
  1. Taught? - takes you to the lesson's attainment area to record attainments for your children.
  2. Review - take you to the review section to see how the children had attained in that lesson. By clicking the Review button in the box will then allow you to edit any attainments previously made.

Creating new lessons

To create a new lesson:
  1. Click 'Create'.
  2. Select the lesson type at the top of the 'Plan your lesson' box.
    1. Project activity - enables you to choose any lesson from any of our projects, even if they are not added to your curriculum.
    2. Selected objectives - enables you to plan your own lessons, using our skills and knowledge framework.
  3. Select the required time and date from the calendar.
  4. Select your Class.
  5. If using a Project activity - select the project and lesson. If using Selected objectives - select the subject.
  6. Give your lesson a title (you can edit the title that has been pre-populated if using a Project activity).
  7. Add any required lesson notes.
  8. Click on the Coverage tab to check the objectives (or add the objectives if using Selected objectives by using the 'Add skills/knowledge' button).
  9. Click 'Create'.
The lesson will then appear in your list of lessons and be added to My Planner.

Viewing and copying colleagues' lessons

It is possible to view colleagues' lessons in order to create copies, view their lesson attainments or complete the attainments for one of their lessons yourself. Use the filters at the top of the page to choose a week or a range of dates and select the user whose planner you wish to view. Your colleague's lessons will be a different colour so that stand out from your own. If you click on a colleague's lesson:
  1. You can 'Copy' a lesson planned in the future or view any teaching notes.
  2. You can 'Copy' a lesson that has not yet been taught by your colleague. Clicking 'Copy' will allow you to edit then teach your own version of the lesson. Clicking 'Taught?' will allow you to complete the lesson attainments.
  3. You can 'Copy' or 'Review' a lesson that has been taught by your colleague. Clicking 'Copy' will allow you to edit then teach your own version of the lesson, clicking 'Review' will show you your colleague's attainments and give you the option to copy the lesson without any edits.

When you create a copy of a lesson, you can edit the title, class, objectives and add your own lesson notes prior to teaching. Any copied lessons will appear in your list of lessons and be added to your planner.

IdeaTip: You can also use the search box in the top right corner to search for specific people, lessons or subjects.
