In order to sync your MIS with Maestro, certain permissions need to be granted in order for the information to be shared. This article will explain which permissions we need in order to sync your classes and pupils onto Maestro.
About Wonde
Wonde is used by over 300 of the leading EdTech companies to connect and synchronise their software with the different MIS providers used by schools. Wonde is currently installed in over 21,000 schools across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and British international schools worldwide.
Cornerstones Education is ISO27001 accredited, and we must ensure that any third party that handles data on our behalf is also suitably compliant. Using Wonde enables you to connect and synchronise your Management Information System (MIS) to Maestro securely and have full control of the exact data that is shared with Cornerstones. Once the information is synced, your plans and assessment will have a live connection to classes and pupils.
To comply with the Data Protection Act and the GPDR, Wonde provides the tools to ensure that schools are in complete control and have clarity of what data is being accessed by third parties. At Cornerstones, we only request the exact data from a school’s MIS that you need to use Maestro. There is also a range of optional permissions, which you can turn on/off depending on how you choose to use the system. Everything is audited, and your school can see details of the permissions granted, who approved them, their position in school and the date/time that they were approved at any time. You can also remove the connection at any time.

If you choose to sync with Wonde, you only need to give permission to the minimum settings required to add your classes and/or pupils. All other fields are optional, and we appreciate that there are some fields that are more sensitive than others that you may choose not to share.

What are the benefits of syncing with Wonde?
By syncing these fields, your pupils and classes will be imported and kept in sync whenever a change is made to your MIS.
The benefit of this is that Maestro will record either at a class or even down to pupil level coverage and attainment against the progression of skills and knowledge. We'll be discussing with schools exactly how they want to display this actual progression of coverage and individual attainment against your set end-points over the coming months.
As we develop this Assessment tracking system, you may wish to analyse your vulnerable groups or certain demographics such as Pupil Premium/SEN/Ethnicity etc. At the moment we do not use these attributes but they are all things that can be added later down the line in your Wonde portal once Maestro has this functionality - or not added at all.
At the moment, if you have classes and pupils synced, once a lesson is taught the teacher clicks the 'Lesson taught' button either via the Lesson plan or a timetabled lesson and everything is recorded. If you would like to record more detail, teachers can also assess against a pupil the learning intention and or the knowledge taught in that lesson. Maestro auto-fills attainment for you so you can assess by exception. This all leads to the comprehensive assessment system going live later this year.
If you would like to set up the Wonde connection with these minimum requirements and need support, please contact our Online Support Team on 03333 20 8000 or email maestro@cornerstoneseducation.co.uk.
If you do not want to sync your pupils and classes at this time and have already received a request, we can cancel the invitation through the portal to stop you from receiving follow up emails.
For any other questions around approving your permissions, or around the Wonde dashboard, please contact support@wonde.com and a member of the team will be happy to help.
You will need to do a regular data sync
in Maestro, to update your pupil data. This can only be completed by a Maestro Admin.
