The pupil notes function allows you to add notes about specific pupils, with the optional to associate this information with a termly assessment or a test. Pupil notes that you add can be viewed by any Maestro user within the school.
To create a pupil note
Pupil notes can be added anywhere a child's name has been made into a link. Click on the pupil name/surname, click the 'Notes' tab and then click 'Add note'.
You can change the school year, term and context, if required. The 'Context' filter will allow you to add a note for a particular subject or to a specific test the child has taken. Enter your notes and click 'Save' once completed.
Pupil notes can also be added via the Teacher assessment page or the Pupil test area.
Teacher assessment
When making termly assessments, click the note icon next to the child's name:
Click on 'Add note' to create a note:
The school year, term and context will be set to the relevant assessment but you can change it if you like. Enter your notes and click 'Save' once completed.
Pupil Tests
Pupils notes can be added via the School test results or the Class test results pages.
On the School test results page, simply click on the required test and click the Pupil notes icon, located next to the pupil name. The process is then the same as above.
On the Class test results page, select the class and the subject from the top filters. Click on the pupil's name and select 'Add note'. The process is then the same as above.
If you have multiple tests for the subject selected, you may prefer to click on the date under the test to add a Pupil note there instead. Just click on the Pupil note icon, located next to the pupil name.
The Pupil note button shows a count of the notes related to a specific pupil, a solid count number indicates the pupil has specific notes related to the current context (E.g. Reading, Geography or Y1 Summer Reading test) and an outlined count indicates the pupil has general notes not directly related to the current context.

Note: Maestro administrators and SLT access levels have the ability to edit or delete notes by any users. Teacher and Teaching Assistant access levels may only edit or delete their own notes.
Where users have added notes for a test, these also pull through to the Teacher assessment page but there is the option to switch to 'show only subject notes'.
