The GLD report feature has been added to look at historic GLD for each cohort of children. GLD or 'Good Level of Development' is calculated by the number of children achieving expected judgments at the end of the Reception year in the areas of Communication and Language, PSED, Physical Development, Literacy and Maths. To achieve GLD children must have expected judgments for all the ELGs in those areas.
The report allows you to see the overall GLD to compare with the national average. It also breaks down individual children’s data so you can see which Early Learning Goals they achieved at the end of the Reception year.
To assess children against each of the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Reception year:
- Go to Plan and assess> Teacher assessment and use the filters to select the correct year, term, and class from the dropdown boxes.
- Choose the Early Learning Goal from the Areas of Learning dropdown box.
- Select EYFS under the assessment type and assess each child as Expected or Emerging and save the data.

Once you have assessed the children against each ELG you will be able to see this data in EYFS GLD report in the Analyse and report section. It will show you your GLD percentage, and indicate which children achieved GLD at the end of Reception. It will also show each of the Early Learning Goals and the percentage of children that attained each ELG.

The GLD report will only calculate GLD at the end of the Reception year when all assessments for the summer term have been inputted. However, if schools wish to record 'on track' or 'not on track' judgements towards each of the ELGs throughout the year, it will calculate the percentage of children on track for each aspect of learning.
