Customising projects for mixed-age planning
To further support schools with mixed-age classes, Maestro now enables Maestro administrators and SLT users to add the skills framework for a different year group to a project. This means that if you are a Y4/5 teacher and you are teaching Invasion, you can now add the Y5 skills to each lesson in the project to go alongside the Y4 skills. This functionality will help teachers to plan their lessons with suitable support and/or challenge for the children by showing the corresponding skills for the different year groups.
To add additional skills to a project from a different year group, enter the project and click on the ‘Options’ button. Then select ‘Customise this project’.
The lessons within the project are shown down the left of the page with the skills framework alongside. The skills that we have assigned to the lesson will be ticked already. You can select all the skills for the year groups that will also be using the project by clicking be the year group at the top of the page.
Alternatively, you can assign individual skills to any lesson by selecting the required statements from the framework. Just click ‘Save’ once the skills have been selected.
When you look at the lessons within the project, you will then see which skills have been added as a ‘school’ icon will be visible next to the added skills statements.
When any additional skills are added to a project, this will then be reflected on the Curriculum sequence page in the Live curriculum section of Maestro.
The project thumbnail will also reflect these changes for the class teacher to see.
