Actual coverage is a record of what has been covered (and attained) in each subject by a class during this academic year. It is populated by teachers clicking 'Taught' or 'Assess this lesson'.
Down the left, you will see the What matters statements for your selected AoLE.
Across the top are your chosen projects.
The Actual coverage column shows how many times a what matters statement has been planned, and how many of those planned WMS have actually been taught. For example, 5/13 (there are 13 planned lessons that cover the What Matters statement, and it has already been taught 5 times).
Under each project title, you can see how many times a what matters statement is planned in that project, and how many of those planned WMS have actually been taught. Click on any of the outlined numbers to see details of when those statements have been taught.
If a teacher has taught a lesson more than once, this will count towards actual coverage. For example, the What Matters statement below has been taught twice in Contrast and Complement, and the coverage is showing 2/1 (there was 1 planned lesson that covers the WMS, but it has been taught 2 twice on separate occasions).
If coverage has been achieved by teaching a lesson from a project not in your curriculum, this will show in the Actual coverage column as +1 (or the number of additional times it has been covered). For example, 1/1 +1 shows there was 1 planned lesson and that has been taught, there was also 1 unplanned lesson that has been taught. In the example below, you can see 1 extra lesson was taught from Gods and Mortals, and another extra lesson was a purely 'Discrete' lesson - these account for the +2 in the actual Coverage column.
When analysing your actual coverage, you may know that some of the planned activities have already been taught, but have not yet been marked as taught. You can assess this lesson directly from this page using the steps below:
1. Click any outlined number (e.g. 3/5 )
2. Click on the title of the lesson that has the message 'This lesson has not yet been taught'
3. In the top right corner of the box, change the date (and time if necessary), and click 'Assess this lesson'.
4. To edit pupil attainments for individuals or learning groups, click 'Edit attainments'.
To simply record all children as having attained the objectives, click 'Save'.
To close the box and continue looking at Actual coverage, click 'Cancel'.
